  1. Technical Poem

You can hear me all the time
I am here to give you all of mine
I will say what you want to hear
And you can control me anywhere

       Are you feeling sad?
Put me in your ear
I will carry all your griefs
And make you dive in ease

        Love me or hate me
Admit or not
I am the one real friend
You have ever owned

2.Introduction
A head phone is a device that covers people’s ears and helps to listen to music or any other things without disturbing others. The main function of a headphone is to convert an electrical signal to a corresponding sound by connecting it to a phone or computer. According to Wikipedia, the first truly successful headphone set was developed in 1910 by Nathaniel Baldwin, who made them by hand in his kitchen and sold them to the United States Navy. Nowadays headphones are more like daily necessaries for people. Skull Candy is a famous brand of headphone which was founded by Rick Alden in 2003 (Wikipedia, Skull Candy). Same source also says that Portable Link was the first Skull Candy product that combines headphones with hands-free cellular technology, allowing users to listen to music from a portable audio device, while making and receiving calls through their cell phone. Some cellular phone company may offer Skull Candy headphone by purchasing their phone or it can be bought individually at any store or online. Although some headphones have a microphone attached to it, most of the headphones are only consisted of  speakers, cable, jack and headphone cushions. In conformity with Amazon, Headphone can be of different colors such as black, grey, pink etc. which has an average weight of 14.1 ounces. In addition, the audio driver size of it is 40mm and the dimension of this product is about 0.4 x 1.4 x 8.9 inches with a frequency of 20-20k Hz and with a maximum input power of 120 mW.
For now, Headphones have different usages regarding people’s need. Some people listen to music, some use it while talking and some use it when they study. People can choose their favorite colored headphone at any electronic store. The descriptions of the parts of a headphone and its different functions will be described in the next section.

3. Descriptions of Parts

Fig 1. Parts of headphone (Wicked Cushion,2016)

A regular Skull Candy headphone mainly has speakers, a jack, a cable and two headphone cushions.

3.I Jack
Headphone Jack, can be also called as phone
connector that bridges headphone to the phone.
It is shaped as cylinder with a grooved tip.
According to Wikipedia, headphone jacks on a wide range of equipment. 6.35 mm (1⁄4 inch) plugs are
common on home and professional component equipment, while 3.5 mm plugs are nearly universal for portable audio equipment.

3.II Cable
The cable is the long piece that runs from the jack to the speakers. It is a set of wires coated in rubber or other nonconductive material. Its job is to act as a sort of bridge along which the electrical signal from the device can go up to the speakers. The cable is generally long and flexible.

3.III Speakers
Speakers are the part of a headphone that receive electrical signal and makes a clear, pleasant sound to people’s ear. They are big round shaped part of a headphone, made of metal. The frequency of a headphone is generally about 20Hz to 20,000Hz or more

3.IV Headphone Cushions
Headphone cushions are the parts of a headphone that cover the speaker for the purpose of comforting our ears. Usually speakers are hard which can harm our ear if it is used without cushions. The foam of the cushions can be memory foam or can be any types of foam.

4.Functions
The function of a headphone is not so complex. The parts that has been describes earlier works together to run a headphone. The main function of a headphone is to use an electromagnet and a cone to vibrate the air and create sound waves. According to Quara, electricity (the electrical energy that goes through the wire from the device to headphones) charges the metal center coil and magnetizes it hence the coil becomes an electromagnet. Moreover, electromagnets can reverse pole orientation repeatedly which means the coil will alternately be attracted to and repelled by the permanent magnet at the back of the headphone. Additionally, the back-and-forth movement of the coil continuously flexes the circular plastic diaphragm, creating pulsating waves of air that travel through the front of the headphone enclosure and into the ear canal to vibrate the eardrum.
However, people can increase or decrease the volume of the sound according to their ear’s pleasure. Headphones work like a drum, if the force of the vibration increases, the louder sound releases.

5.Conclusion
Headphones are becoming more and more important in our every day life. People now usually spend more time on listening than reading. Now many academic books have their audio versions, story books are also in audio. Youtube and other websites also provide videos so that people are getting more interested in learning by listening. Headphone is the best option for hearing without irritating others. They are cheaper and makes comfortable sound. As a result, the popularity of headphones is increasing and different types of headphones are being made each year. The last innovation of headphone were the wireless types that works by connecting the headphone to devices through Bluetooth. It can be concluded that Headphones will always have a place in the world’s market.
